Executive Summary
Lake Keowee Marina has become limited in the overall economic returns. Therefore, without raising the, already high, slip dues; the marina is stuck with a fixed yearly budget and increasing costs. This fixed yearly budget is coming from, fully occupied amount of in water slip space, which is regulated by Duke Energy.
I propose to evaluate the economic costs and benefits of the establishment of a more mechanized vertical storage facility. I will determine the factors that are involved with mechanization, building and marketing of the largest facility on Lake Keowee. I will explore different possibilities for increased efficiency in property design and managerial experience for the greatest economic return on this investment.
I can accomplish this study and present these results for $1000. The benefits will be a substantially increased income with a more effective managerial basis for the sustained return in the future.
Methods
Land use is going to be a large problem for the marina. First, the location of the vertical storage units will have to be established. Second, a suitable location with sufficient water depth will have to be found with respect to the storage building. Planning of the current docking system will have to be reformatted to adjust for the launching and retrieval of watercraft on a continual basis. Third, office locations, parking, and landscaping will have to be addressed. Finally, the accounting of this new system will need to be approached and analyzed for the greatest return.

What Has Been Done So Far:
- I have contacted Duke Energy in regards to limitations of the property deed.
- I have found extensive statistical documentation of the demand for dry storage.
- I have conducted extensive research on the development of vertical storage units.
What I Will Do:
Create a management plan for the construction and development of the new facility and the economic concerns associated with it.
- Review paper and internet-based literature
- Examine records for limitations
- Study recent papers
- Identify usable statistical data for marketing
Qualifications
I am currently enrolled in Clemson University studying how to effectively establish and manage vertical marine storage facilities. Also, I have 75 years of background in the marine industry.

Proposed Schedule
The vertical storage facility will have to be on a very stringent schedule for the reduction in accruing costs. Therefore, we will allow for one year to develop and management plan and will have construction completed within 18 months. We will also break up the development into three stages which will allow for a cost reduction if we fall behind schedule from one phase to the next.
Conclusion and Recommendations
In conclusion this project will require a very large amount of contributed capital; however, in return, there will be a large amount of profit to be made. Therefore, without the right management there is a high risk for failure.
I recommend the usage of all the aspects I have previously stated along with my managerial expertise in this ever changing economy.

As you know, any Tandem Watercraft will continue to operate at peak performance levels under normal operating procedures. However, our customer service department confirms the malfunction in your watercraft caused by water being present in the fuel line. Possibly this malfunction could have been the result of purchasing bad gasoline. We trust you are cognizant of the fact that while we guarantee our watercraft for one year against defects in workmanship and materials. However, we cannot assume responsibility for inadequate care. For this we cannot grant your request to repair the watercraft vehicle free of charge.
However, Tandem Watercraft would be pleased to see that the fuel line is flushed at the nominal cost of $30 USD. If you will take the simple precaution in fuel selection, your Tandem Watercraft Vehicle will provide you with many years of trouble free service.
Enclosed is an authorization card. If received, we will perform the above service and deliver your watercraft vehicle.

Marlboro: The cigarrette for moms
This image has many different layout and design qualities that allow for a quick reading with a specific look. These elements are specifically designed to persuade a certain audience into the buying this brand of cigarette's. This graphic uses balance to achieve a symmetrical design to describe two different instances for a duplicate appearance. The left graphic describes a baby that suggests in a caption that the mother made a bad decision by selling him: however, smoking a Marlboro is a good idea. The right graphic describes a happy baby that indicates, in a caption, how you will feel when you smoke a Marlboro. This particular advertisement should be very effective for new mothers because it plays on their adornment of baby's. However, the young mother audience, that this graphic advertising to, is ethically wrong because of the dangers of secondhand smoke to baby's. New York Times (NYT) uses a pectoral representation to convey the magnitude of the SARS outbreak. They are using a graphical design by listing all epidemics in their own rectangular boxes. However, the assumptions that someone formulates is that these boxes are representative of the magnitude of the outbreak. Therefore, because the NYT is read by many different audiences, who may or may not have a comprehensive background in these epidemics, they are using a visual rhetoric to mislead the reader. The NYT should have a problem solving approach, before publishing this article, to identify their audience and the background they might have on the topic. Also, the graphic seems to lack a standardization of data among diseases, giving the reader a very inconclusive link to the text sizes. The title of the article has no correlation to the topics being depicted. Also, it seems like the rectangles with TB and malaria seem to have a more of an ethos than the title. This ethos seems to give an urgency and seriousness to the graphic. However, this does define the overall layout of a newspaper; the catching article that has urgency and interests the reader. This article is not meant to be informational; however, it is designed to catch the reader’s attention and give off a definite ethos throughout the graphic.
